416 stainless steel is a grade with excellent free-cutting properties among stainless steels. It is primarily used in the production of solenoid valves, micromotors, and electrical components. All of these materials are free-cutting stainless steels, making them particularly suitable for mass production on automatic lathes and CNC lathes. 416 stainless steel has a low carbon content and excellent corrosion resistance. A free-cutting martensitic stainless steel, 416 can be strengthened through heat treatment. Its strength and machinability are superior to those of 304 and 316, and its coefficient of friction is low.
