40Cr10Si2Mo medium carbon martensitic valve steel
40Cr10Si2Mo is not stainless steel. 40Cr10Si2Mo is a medium-carbon martensitic valve steel. This type of valve steel is also known as valve steel. New designation: 40Cr10Si2Mo (GB/T 1221-2007), Old designation: 4Cr10Si2Mo. Standard: GB/T 1221-1992. At the same tempering temperature, 40Cr10Si2Mo's strength increases with increasing quenching temperature, with minimal change in plasticity. Quenching temperatures between 1000°C and 1050°C meet technical requirements. At the same quenching temperature, increasing tempering temperature decreases strength. Plasticity increases, but strength barely meets technical requirements when tempered at the upper temperature of 780°C. Optimum performance is achieved when tempered at 740°C, plus or minus 10°C.
